Mild Friday angst
It seems I've decided to upgrade from my weekly migraine to biweekly migraines. Because more is better, no matter what it is, right?

God, I wanna be writing short stories.
***
God, I need to finish my novel.
***
God, the zombie scene in my novel is really stupid.
***
(Confession: I started a short story yesterday.)
***
God, I hate feeling guilty for starting a short story.

And now, a picture of an angsty tree:

Dude, don't feel guilty for writing a short story! Novels are loooooong. You have permission to take a break now and then.

Wow, what a very angsty tree! Munch could have painted that tree.
I could ditto most of what you said, but yeah, don't beat yourself up too much about the short story. I was beating myself up too, because I just took a break to rewrite a bothersome story and get it sent out. But by Granthar's silver hammer, I absolve us both.

Yeah, yeah. Just be sure you get back to those novels, both of you, before too long. I want results!

Hm, maybe it's not guilt so much as fear of SarahP.

No beating yourself up when you already have a migraine!
And no beating yourself up when I could be doing it for you!

I am especially fond of Excedrin Migraine Relief pills.
I haven't written short fiction in ages and I'm angsting over that.
I'm stuck in novel revisions and feeling like there's no way out.
But hey! Cool tree!

At the risk of angering Sarah, I think if you need to write a short story, you should write a short story and not worry about "Oh God, now here I am writing a short story." Just write it and then go back to the novel. I think that's an Oscar Wildeism: The best way to fight temptation is to give in to it.

I second the Excedrin Migraine drug recommendation. Only thing that works on mine.

Excedrin works on my migraines, too, as long as I pop 'em early in the migraine development. Unfortunately, Thursday I developed the migraine while I was asleep. Otherwise, though, Excedrin rocks. I usually only need two, instead of the 5 or 6 Advil I used to take.
Working on the short story this weekend and trying to keep the guilt at bay. :-)
