Where's that picture located? Is it local or overseas?
I've not been bothered by the idea of snakes or insetcs being consumed. Dogs, cats... that a culktural thing i guess. We eat cows and that's a sacred animal for other cultures.
But. Lizards. Those little things that would scamper all over the walls in my house back home? The bigger ground lizard variety (30 cm nose to tail tip), that my dog would always pounce, chomp on a few times, then discard in the driveway like half-chewed licorice to ripen in the sun, so that my mom would then come home, drive over it, and swear a mild blue streak?
Greg van Eekhout eats snacks and is a science fiction and fantasy writer. His stories have appeared in places such as Asimov's, Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, Starlight 3, Strange Horizons, Realms of Fantasy, and Year's Best Fantasy and Horror. His story "In the Late December" was a Nebula nominee.
These days, more of my blogging action happens on my LiveJournal, but I welcome comments in both places.

On the Manado (Sulawesi) open market you can also get dogs, cats, rats, mice and snakes on a stick!

It is my opinion that there is a dearth of meat on a stick! Where can I get my reptokabob?

Local to you, Tricia, kinda: Vancouver.
I'm puzzled about the preparation. Do you roast them, boil them to soften them up, chew them like jerky, or just lick them?
